By Michelle Dean
We photographed Michelle and Shannon’s wedding in July 2012 at Newstead House, and it was our pleasure to see them again for their recent maternity photography shoot. The couple are expecting their first child around the end of March, and are both excited and a little nervous as any expectant parents would be. Michelle is looking fabulous and doing a great job looking after herself and her baby.
We visited the Daisy Hill Conservation Park in Daisy Hill, where the couple often go for walks, and then headed back to their residence for a few more portrait shots. It was great to be able to capture some outdoor images as well as some pictures from within their home. Photos that are taken at a client’s home can be made to look like a formal studio shoot; I prefer to shoot in our client’s own home as it is much more comfortable for the expectant mothers and, by using only natural lighting, it can be more flattering to the client in comparison to studio lighting.
You can take some excellent portrait photographs by using natural light, if you know how to use it effectively. In these photos I have used the same lighting source from an internal window, but by repositioning the camera angle it was possible to capture two very different images. Here are some other great tips for taking professional maternity photos.
