The Campbells had their family portrait photo recently updated with von Maedler Photography. They had won a family portrait sitting and four free 8×12” prints at the Belmont State School Fete. We spent a lovely morning together sitting on a picnic blanket in their backyard under a gorgeous Jacaranda tree. The three children even showed me some of their tricky, jumping techniques on the family trampoline.

By way of photographic technique, I tried to ensure everyone was comfortable at the portrait shoot by asking family members to interact with one another. In this shot, I commenced by moving them into a position where they could all be close to each other, and then got them all to tickle each other; there were some crazy shots in there! After all that action has taken place, I then capture some of the more natural family photos. I got them to look at the camera which allowed for a more composed shot of the family looking relaxed.

After the family portrait I concentrated on getting all the children together. I asked that they come in really close together and have a big group hug; once again this resulted in some seriously fun shots of them goofing off and pulling funny faces. After that they were more relaxed and I took a lovely portrait of the three of them together.

We then finished off the shoot by having the three children jumping on the trampoline; a perfect end to a perfect family portrait shoot!
